Essential oils are truly a gift from nature. The use of plant essences and aromatics have been around since human civilization for their health benefits. Some cultures date the use of essential oils as far back as 3000 years ago. It’s not new or trendy but over the last 100 years or so we have moved away from nature. However, there is a new emergence of people wanting to go back to natural remedies and modalities such as yoga and meditation to help us respond more gracefully and mindfully to the challenges we face in our lives. Are you ready to raise your vibration, expand your mind and open your heart to the healing energies of nature’s elements? Learn and explore how essential oils can support your health as well as your emotional and spiritual well-being, inspire your yoga practice and anchor your meditation.

So what is an essential oil?

In scientific terms, an essential oil is a volatile aromatic compound. When you enjoy the scent of a bouquet or freshly cut herbs such as rosemary and oregano, you’re experiencing the aromatic quality of essential oils. Essential oils can be used in a variety of ways, from supporting emotional and physical wellness to cooking, baking, cleaning, bath and natural beauty applications.

Why I use essential oils.

I discovered the health benefits of EOs when I was in college. When I moved to Silicon Valley, I was constantly dealing with upper respiratory issues due to environmental changes and seasonal threats . One day in my chemistry class, we learned how to steam distill plant matter as one of our experiments. Since the campus was surrounded by huge eucalyptus trees, I chose to distill eucalyptus leaves. As I learned,  essential oils of eucalyptus along with peppermint, melaleuca, and lavender contained chemical properties that can support respiratory system function. But I didn’t use essential oils as much back then as I do now. Since discovering  dōTERRA®, essential oils are now a part of my daily routine to manage stress, support my immune system function, clean my house, uplift my spirits and support my physical activities.

Essential oils have now become a natural extension of my work as a Yoga Teacher as they have added another dimension to help support my students in the mind, body, soul connection. I ever more passionate about sharing wellness with others and helping people bring healthy alternatives into their lives.

If you’re interested in learning more about how you can use essential oils in your life or how they can support your yoga and meditation practice, I would love to connect with you and would be so happy to share the knowledge.
